MALTA 2010

The Island of Malta is a small but densely populated nation located only 90 kilometers south of Sicily. Consisting of 7 islands, it is a popular tourist resort because of its inviting year round sunny climate, seaside resorts, its many cafes and nightlife activities and a fascinating history dating back thousands of years. The Maltese archipelago consists of three main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. In Malta, one can discover 7000 years of history, yet experience Maltese thrills in the present. Wherever you go, the Islands' sites and architecture provide a spectacular backdrop for photography. The warm colors of the honey-colored sandstone buildings stand out against the deepest of Mediterranean blues. On Malta, one can retrace the footsteps of St. Paul or seek out the specific locations where the Knights of St. John defended Christendom. Much of Malta's past is still visible to the visitors of today. Even the buses on Malta, each one privately owned, are vintage dating from the 1950's. Malta has amazing light conditions to photograph under with vibrant sun and fabulous clouds. The architecture is unique, large ships slip by in the Grand Harbor of Valetta each evening, and the people are warm and friendly. This ancient civilization provides an overwhelming choice of subjects for the camera.
